UFC 241 Post Toast

What a show! These fights can be very emotional, and you realize who you were rooting for (or against) when it’s all over. At the end of the show, all that mattered to me was the Diaz win. But let’s go back a bit. Yoel vs Costa: I really thought Yoel had one more left in him, but it appears 42 is not the new 30. It is 42, and […]

UFC 241

Fight week is here and UFC 241 has the rematch we’ve all been waiting for: Stipe is back and he wants his belt. I like DC, but I can’t imagine Stipe falling for the banana in the tailpipe again. I just can’t. I think he’ll win in dramatic fashion and DC retires in the cage. Then Jon taunts over Twitter, causing DC to unretire to fight him at 205. The […]

Rebuilding

For several reasons, my favorite weight class used to be Middleweight (185): Jacare, Weidman, Mousasi, Anderson Silva, Hendo, Marreta, Bisping, and of course, my guy Luke Rockhold. I say used to be because time rolls on. Some moved up to 205 (Weidman, Marreta), some are no longer with us in body (Mousasi), or in spirit (Silva), and some retired from the sport (Hendo, Bisping). That leaves Jacare as the OG, […]

Newark post mortem

I didn’t watch any of the Colby-Usman post-fight stuff after UFC Newark, but I took a look at it today on demand. Then I realized, I’m not interested in the staged arguments, the “let’s do it right now!” kind of nonsense with “security” standing by. That’s a bit much for me. But congratulations to Colby Covington for getting the win over Robbie Lawler, who clearly, is not that guy anymore. […]

Newark

This weekend, the UFC is travelling to the great American city of Newark, New Jersey. And there’s an early start time! On the US east coast! Yes! Many of us will be grateful for the early start – at least we won’t be up until 3am watching press conferences. The picks Hannah Goldy. Why not? She looked decent on the Contender Series. Lauren Murphy Unless this is the day for […]

UFC 240 Post mortem

Rough night for the underdogs. Everybody I picked lost, but that’s just the way it is in MMA. The bright side? Frankie Edgar is a legend and going to the Hall of Fame. Felicia Spencer has a bright future at 145, or even 135 if she decides to drop. Niko will be back. Loads of potential. And OAM? Still gangster. M

UFC Edmonton

Not a whole lot going on with this fight card. I got Frankie, Felicia, OAM and Niko. I do think Cyborg is going to win, but I’m rooting for Felicia. That’s a more exciting conclusion. Frankie too. I’m not watching the post show if Max and Cris win. What else can they say that they haven’t said already? M

UFC San Antonio debrief

Or, deep in the heart of Texas. Leon Edwards showed his heart and talent in there with RDA. I’ve been telling you guys that Rafa is an elite gatekeeper and that Leon was going to leave with the win. I admit I was worried about him winning a decision, but he pieced up RDA so good he could not be denied. Why did RDA take that fight? For quite some […]

San Antonio

Octagon in Texas tonight. Let’s get right to it. The first fight of the prelims is on right now, so I don’t have an opinion on that one or the next one. Or the next 3. Pennington, Caceres. Main Card Arlovski, Hernandez, Vick, Hardy, Harris, and Leon Edwards. Yes, Leon Edwards, the dude who caught the 3, will get a win off RDA, the elite gatekeeper. M

UFC 239 part II

Before tonight’s fights (around 45mins from now, lol), I want to finish my thoughts about last weekend. What’s going to happen with Luke Rockhold? My dude is vulnerable to the knockout and his problems only seem to be getting worse. His run to the middleweight title was so impressive, I thought he was unstoppable. Then along came you-know-who and that was that. If at all possible, he should take care […]

UFC 239

UFC 239 was an incredible night of fights and the GOATs were in the building. To be honest, I only purchased the PPV because of Luke Rockhold and Jorge Masvidal. The dominance of Amanda Nunes and Jon Jones did not make their fights must see for me. I was rooting for Thiago Santos, but as he busted his knee in the first round he was unlikely to win. He was […]

Deserves have nothing to do with it

Let me just get right to it: Colby got a bad deal and Jorge better get ready. Yes, I know they had the face offs, yet Masvidal was not there. Why? We’ll find out soon enough. I will be shocked (shocked!) if his fight against Askren actually happens. Cejudo wants to box Loma. This annoys me even though it shouldn’t. I know it’s a rerun of a show we’ve seen […]
